Ekås oak-beech forest is located in a rural area with largely traditional clear-cut logging and planted spruce – as an isolated hotspot for high natural values. The property is home to older secondary natural forest-like deciduous forest dominated by beech in the eastern part and more oak mixed forest in the western part. In the south there is a somewhat younger naturally established mixed deciduous forest with elements of ash and aspen. At the northern end of the property there is planted spruce and birch without biological values and a pine-bog with fine natural values. There is also a small proportion of older mixed spruce forest here that may develop fine natural values in the long term. In the western part and on a centrally located meadow, the land has been grazed for a long time, which has laid the foundation for natural values, which are benefited by continued grazing.
