Endless Shore Ultra Trail offers voluntary Trail Cred for all participants. Trail Cred have calculated the climate footprint of the whole event, including participants travel, and the team behind the race have decided to start a fundraiser to balance the carbon equivalent into protection of old growth forest.
We have identified a forest in Norway that really follow our ambitions of moving freely in a fantastic nature. A local old growth forest called Stemmetjønn – a Fossagrim Habitat Forest.
Here, Sondre Norheim, father of modern skisports, was skiing and in 1866, the world’s first ski race was organized in Morgedal, the nearby village. The forest has traditionally been less intensively managed because of the steep terrain and difficult access, leaving invaluable habitats for species linked to deadwood and old trees. These forests are especially valuable today both for biodiversity and cultural heritage.
